Holiday Card Exchange 2013
Holiday Card Exchange 2013
The Holiday Card Exchange is a global project where classes exchange holiday cards with other classes from around the globe. Each class shares grade level information, class size, the average temperature in mid-December and one interesting fact about the classroom.
Our Pod 4 classes have registered and will exchange holiday cards with twenty-seven other classes in the US, two in Canada and will send one to Project Amigo.
Project Amigo helps poor children of Colima, Mexico by providing programs that motivate them to stay in school; by improving their access to higher education and promoting literacy; and helping with dental care.
The Pod 4 teachers took a group photograph of Pod 4 students 'in the snow' to use in our holiday card. Thank you to the students who brought in stamps. We continue to need more.
The Language Arts classes had lessons on letter writing letter to include in the card, which contained the required information. They also addressed the envelopes to be sent.
When the classes start receiving cards the Social Studies classes will plot them on a North American map and view them on Google Earth. Mystery Skype lessons will also take place where the class video-chats with another class using clues to guess the home state. Students in each class prepare a set of 20 questions and 5-10 clues for the other class before their call.
The Math Classes will check for distance between locations to AES and will be able to plot data received from these classes. They will also be able to create charts and graphs concerning the grade levels and locations of the other classes.
Watch for locations and photos of cards from the other classes!
